I am grateful and excited to be leading Cal Poly Pomona’s PIHRA chapter this academic year. My goals for the club this year are to increase membership among the lower division and transfer students, promote the use of the student SHRM and PIHRA memberships, create a strong networking environment through diverse guest speakers, networking events, and Evening with Industry. I would like to create a sense of community where students feel welcomed, meet peers with similar interests and are inspired on their journey on becoming a professional in Human Resources.

My goal as Vice President is to assist other HR students gain valuable knowledge of the HR field and to offer resources to members e.g. how to utilize PIHRA website resources and offer help with applying for internships/jobs. With my leadership skills, I plan on helping lead our members into being prepared for applying for jobs – but also becoming SHRM certified. If you see me around campus, do not hesitate to stop me and talk to me. I am grateful for this opportunity given to me and look forward to working with all members of PIHRA.

As Executive Administrator, my goals are to keep student members connected and active through planning and distributing information. I plan to stay connected with our members and keep them informed and excited about attending our events because I believe getting involved on campus is beneficial to everyone. With this position, I will continue to develop my skill set and encourage member networking. As a transfer student, this year will be my second at Cal Poly and I am already grateful for the connections and advice that PIHRA has provided me in this short time. I am set to graduate in Spring 2019. When I’m not sending e-mails or making agendas you can find me playing bagpipes or hanging out with my Siamese cat, Sassy.

As Outreach Coordinator, I plan to network with guest speakers to have them come to talk to the club and discuss their experiences in the Human Resources field. I hope to encourage more students to come to club activities and network with students at CPP and with professionals affiliated with PIHRA. PIHRA has allowed me to get more involved, brought me out of my shell, and out of my comfort zone. Being involved with PIHRA has introduced me to the most awesome set of people. I hope to inspire other students to be committed to staying involved on campus and have the same great experience this club has given me.
